FPV GTF Specials Net Nearly $400k For Breast Cancer Research

Two of Ford’s special FPV GT F sedans have helped the National Breast Cancer Foundation add nearly $400,000 to its research fund this week.

Placed on eBay’s virtual auction block last week, build numbers 001 and 500 of the final FPV GT sedan received 84 and 106 bids respectively.

Car 001, which also wears Victorian registration plates ‘GTF 001’, was locked in for $157,600 - while car 500 wasn’t far off doubling that figure with a final bid of $236,100.

Interestingly, while car 500 is yet to be built and will go to a lucky Victorian bidder, car 001 is off to Perth where its special rego plates can’t be used.

“Given the historical significance of both cars, we expected to raise considerable funds for NBCF and I am thrilled with the final result,” Ford Australia President and CEO, Bob Graziano, said.

“Both Ford and the NBCF are focused on the importance of investing in research and development and the innovations those programs can achieve.”

“The auctioning off of these two iconic vehicles, built by our passionate and dedicated Australian team will provide necessary support to the NBCF to fund their equally passionate researchers in their bid to achieve a future of zero deaths from breast cancer in 2030.”
