The new year will see Ford roll out the last-ever update to its large Falcon, but insiders have reportedly confirmed the FPV range will not see any of the upgrades.

According to Fairfax reports this week, Ford is planning to retire the FPV brand next year, rather than fund upgrades that will, at best, have only a two-year shelf life. It is believed that Ford could instead revive the XR8 badge

FPV production last year moved in-house to Ford's Broadmeadows plant.

For its part, Ford has declined to comment on FPV's future - although a media event next month is expected to outline a number of changes to the carmaker's Australian operations and model lines.
