Ford has confirmed that its brand-new Focus ST hotbox and EcoSport compact SUV will make their local debut at next month's Australian International Motor Show.

The arrival of the Focus ST follows its unveiling last year, while the debut of the EcoSport will mark the first local appearance of Ford's 1.0 litre EcoBoost powerplant, 2012's International Engine Of The Year.

But, while the hot Focus will launch here next month, the EcoSport will not hit showrooms until next year. That means the first taste buyers will get of the new 1.0 litre mill will be in the updated Fiesta range earlier in 2013.

Focus ST

Ford's Australian arm has already revealed its hand on the new XR5-replacing Focus ST, which will enter the Australian market at $38,290 plus on-roads.

Powered by Ford's 2.0 litre turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine, the German-built and five-door-only Focus ST delivers 184kW and 360Nm of torque.

Compared to its Australian-delivered XR5 Turbo predecessor, that's an additional 20kW of power and 40Nm of twist. Compared to the Scirocco R, it's a few killerwasps less, but 20Nm more torque.
