Ford has confirmed that its brand-new Focus ST hotbox and EcoSport compact SUV will make their local debut at next month's Australian International Motor Show.

The arrival of the Focus ST follows its unveiling last year, while the debut of the EcoSport will mark the first local appearance of Ford's 1.0 litre EcoBoost powerplant, 2012's International Engine Of The Year.

But, while the hot Focus will launch here next month, the EcoSport will not hit showrooms until next year. That means the first taste buyers will get of the new 1.0 litre mill will be in the updated Fiesta range earlier in 2013.

Focus ST

Ford's Australian arm has already revealed its hand on the new XR5-replacing Focus ST, which will enter the Australian market at $38,290 plus on-roads.

Powered by Ford's 2.0 litre turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine, the German-built and five-door-only Focus ST delivers 184kW and 360Nm of torque.

Compared to its Australian-delivered XR5 Turbo predecessor, that's an additional 20kW of power and 40Nm of twist. Compared to the Scirocco R, it's a few killerwasps less, but 20Nm more torque.

EcoSport

Revealed at this year's Beijing Auto Show, the Fiesta-based EcoSport will be among the first models to feature the new three-cylinder EcoBoost engine.

Power for the 1.0 litre turbocharged and direct-injected mill is listed at 89kW and 170Nm of torque.

A 55kW 1.5 litre diesel engine is also expected to be offered internationally, but it is unclear if this option will come to Australia.

Locally, the engine joins a growing suite of EcoBoost models, including the Focus, Mondeo, and Falcon. The same mill will also feature in the updated Fiesta next year.

FPV And FPR

Ford has also confirmed that its 'new' FPV GT RSPEC sedan and Pursuit Ute models will be shown at AIMS, following their media unveiling last month.

Priced at $76,990 plus on-roads (up from $71,290), the GT RSPEC adds a new launch control system, re-tuned suspension and nine-inch wide rear wheels wrapped in 275/35 R19 Dunlop Sports Maxx tyres.

The Pursuit Ute, while missing out on the performance enhancements, picks up the RSPEC's stickers and wheels, and a handful of other styling tweaks.

Lastly, Ford's new Car of the Future V8 Supercar racer will be on show, decked out in the carmaker's EcoBoost livery (but definitely not running an EcoBoost engine).
