A trip to the nearest beach from Florence, in Northern Italy, will take you just over an hour by car. Cut the trip short however, and you could pay a visit to Pontedera, where you'll find F&M Auto slowly hand-building its new Evantra "supercar".

The name, meaning "unique, exclusive," comes from the ancient Etruscans, and with only five cars scheduled to roll out each year, the Evantra will be plenty exclusive.

Two versions will be offered, both powered by a 3.5 litre flat-six petrol engine. One will utilise a twin-turbo arrangement to develop a whopping 450kW, while the naturally-aspirated variant will deliver an even 300kW.

In turbo form and with a respectable 1200kg kerb weight, F&M says the Evantra will hit 100km/h in 3.7 seconds, putting it ever-so-barely outside the fraternity of established supercars.

At that end of things, you'll find the likes of the 3.5-second Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and 911 GT2 RS cars, but even the big Panamera Turbo four-door will hit the ton in 3.3 seconds.

Still, we'd have one, and we'd probably never run into another.
