Fiat has recalled its Scudo van from 2013, due to potential problem with the front brake rotors.

The carmaker says the front rotors (or ‘discs’) may not be to specification, and that they are therefore “non-compliant”.

Should a Scudo driver experience problems with the front brakes while underway, a hazard may result for the vehicle’s occupants and other road-users.

Under extreme circumstances, the front brake rotor may break, which in term could render the windscreen wiper motor inoperable.

Fiat says 40 cars in Australia are affected by the recall.

The recall process will involve an inspection of the Scudo’s front end to determine if replacement parts are required.

The Italian carmaker has also recalled its 500, 500 Abarth and Ducato van this week, while sister carmaker Alfa Romeo has reined in its MiTo light car for attention.

Fiat will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of details should contact their local dealer, or call Fiat on 130 133 079.
