Audi unveiled its new-generation A3 small hatch just two months ago in Geneva, but RS fans are already abuzz with speculation of a future RS 3 variant.

Artist Theophilus Chin has taken his digital crayons out to explore what the model might actually look like.

Chin’s vision is based around the new car's three-door bodystyle, unlike the current RS 3 model which was only produced in the five-door Sportback form.

These renderings draw on recent RS production and concept styling, including the aggressive front spoiler with mesh intakes, along with the dual oval-tipped exhausts.

The black skirting and wheelarch lips are drawn from the RS Q3 concept shown last month in Beijing, while the wheels are a clear reference to the limited-build A1 Quattro’s distinctive turbine design.

If Audi follows its usual course of saving the best 'til last, it will be some time before we see the real RS 3.

Fans won't have to go long without a dose of performance though, with recent spy photos suggesting the S3 hero is not far away.

In the meantime, the current-generation RS 3’s drivetrain remains available locally in the TT RS, which is challenging Lamborghinis on the local tarmac rally scene.
