Jeremy Clarkson has finally put an end to speculation regarding his career future, with a tweet revealing that the former Top Gear trio have signed a deal with Amazon.

The new program, which is yet to be named, will be available exclusively to Amazon Prime customers. Although available in the US and UK, as well as other international markets, Amazon’s Instant Video service isn’t yet offered in Australia.

Clarkson revealed that former Top Gear co-hosts, James May and Richard Hammond would be joining him in the new venture. The triad are believed to have signed a three year contract.

The new series is expected to debut in 2016, with the team’s long-term executive producer, Andy Wilman, also signed up.

“I feel like I've climbed out of a bi-plane and into a spaceship.” Clarkson said in a statement released by Amazon UK.

While James May proffered, “We have become part of the new age of  smart TV. Ironic, isn't it?”

Over at the BBC, Chris Evans has been confirmed as the host of the next generation of Top Gear. Rumours abound as to possible co-presenters, with former Formula 1 champ, Jenson Button, tipped as a possible presenter.
