Notwithstanding its sale to the French PSA Group, German brand Opel is pressing-on with plans for more electric cars and a brand-defining large SUV.

According to Automotive News Europe, Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann – who is to remain in the top job – confirmed more EVs are under development to join the company’s existing Ampera-e (based on the Chevrolet Bolt).

Further, Mr Neumann said Opel’s planned new product onslaught will continue with seven new models scheduled for launch, including the touted SUV which is planned to sit alongside the Insignia (the vehicle which will be sold locally as the all-new Holden Commodore) as the company’s flagship models.
