Reports of a production debut for Bugatti's big Galibier 16C supersaloon have been circulating since its unveiling in 2009, but we've yet to hear news of a green light.

That could be about to change however, with the Volkswagen-owned carmaker rolling out a new promotional video this week.

The car shown in the five-minute clip is the same concept we've seen trotted out at motor shows in recent years, but its return to the spotlight could be a sign that the company is preparing to announce its plans.

The video follows news that a trademark application for the Galibier's design was filed in 2009.

Earlier reports have suggested that, like the Veyron, the Galibier's production would be limited to less than 1000 cars, with an even heavier price tag.

In concept form, the Galibier is powered by a 596kW front-mounted version of the Veyron's 8.0 litre W16 engine, with a pair of superchargers replacing the four turbos of the Veyron engine.

The Galibier makes extensive use of aluminium and carbon-fibre in its construction, while the four-seater cabin features top-shelf leather and wood trim, and an LCD centre display.
