Bentley may have chosen to hedge its bets when it came to a reported choice between the high-riding EXP 9 F concept and a new sports car.

A new report with US magazine Car & Driver suggests the British marque is planning to unveil an all-new sports concept in Paris next month, unrelated to any of its existing models.

The report claims that Bentley insiders have confirmed the concept will be its most sports-focused project since 1999's Lamborghini-based W16-powered Hunaudieres concept.

Is Bentley preparing to party once again as though it were 1999? That remains to be seen, but with the EXP 9 F getting a less than rapturous reception, the carmaker will be keen to get things back on track.

Bentley recently revealed its new Continental GT Speed coupe, the fastest production model to ever wear the winged B.

Revealed at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, the new GT Speed is powered by an uprated version of Bentley's W12 engine, boosting power from 430 to 460kW - just 3kW short of the Continential Supersports.

With power sent to all four wheels through the familiar eight-speed ZF automatic - now available with the regular GT and GTC - Bentley promises a 0-100km/h time of four seconds dead - an incredibly sharp time for the 2300kg coupe.
