Barn Find: Split-window Corvette Uncovered After 33 Years

Another classic case of ‘hoarder checks out, leaves disused classic car’ has revealed a highly desirable 1963 Corvette ‘split-window’ Coupe in California.

A post on the online Corvette Forum community suggests that its original owner recently passed away, promising his daughter "when I pass on, you will have the Corvette".

The Corvette was found in a garage among several other vehicles, where the rare classic has apparently been parked since 1979.

Aside from 33 years of dust and minor surface rust on the rear bumper, it appears to be in surprisingly good, restorable condition.

Known for its distinctive two-piece rear window, the split-window model was produced for just one year (1963) before being updated with a one-piece rear window design.

Only 10,594 units were produced; this relative rarity has helped the 1963 model to become one of the most collectible of all Corvette models.

California barn finds are highly regarded, as the dry air and warmer winters generally minimises rust deterioration.
