Audi TT RS Plus Revealed, Australian Debut Under Consideration

Rumour no longer, the Audi TT RS Plus has landed in Europe this week, bringing more power to both the Coupe and Roadster versions of the flagship TT.

Driven by the same turbocharged 2.5 litre five-cylinder engine that propels the 'regular' TT RS, the Plus cars deliver 265kW and 465Nm - that's an extra 15kW and 15Nm of torque.

Those are figures you could pull up with an aftermarket tune, but with warranty in hand, the Plus package has its appeal.

As with the RS, the Plus is available with both a six-speed manual and Audi's seven-speed S tronic transmission, with quattro all-wheel-drive system as standard.

With the extra boogy under the bonnet and the manual transmission, Audi says the TT RS Plus will hit 100km/h in 4.3 seconds - 0.3 seconds quicker than the RS. The paddle-shifting S tronic auto combo will do the dash in 4.1 seconds.

Setting the RS Plus pack apart from its regular RS stablemate is a black-and-red design for the 19-inch five-spoke wheels, wrapped in 255/35 rubber at all four corners.

The front-end appears largely unchanged until you look (much) closer, with the standard RS diamond-mesh grille finished in a polished anthracite.

The side mirror caps are of a carbon fibre-reinforced polymer rather than the regular satin-finished versions on the RS, and the carbon highlights continue in the cabin and the engine bay. 

As with the regular model, Audi's magnetic ride adaptive damping system is available as an option.

Australia

An Australian debut has yet to be confirmed for the TT RS Plus package.

Speaking with TMR today, Audi Australia's Shaun Cleary said that the TT RS Plus package is under consideration for Australia, "although we'll need to ensure it will work with our market plan in Australia, and production numbers need to be confirmed."
