Audi Q2 Production Begins Ahead Of 2017 Arrival For Australia

Audi describes its all-new Q2 SUV as the model that steps outside the Audi box, and now, production for the Q2 is underway.

The problem with creating a model that is, as Audi says, “un[hash]taggable”, is that it presents challenges when it comes time to hit the ‘go’ button on production - but Audi is keeping the Q2 very much in-house.

“The start of series production of a new model is always a great challenge and something special for a plant and its employees,” Audi’s Albert Mayer said.

“We are proud to be building the Audi Q2 - the Q”‘family entry model - here in Ingolstadt for the world market.”

That’s right; the Q2 will be built at Audi’s main plant in Ingolstadt. The plant is the second-largest car production facility in Europe and the largest for Audi, which has been adapted to cope with the Q2’s new design.
