Aston Martin has reportedly renewed its engine-supply deal with Ford for another five years, according to Britain's Autocar magazine.

If genuine, the deal quashes rumours of a switch to Mercedes-Benz engines, although a partnership with Daimler could still happen in the future.

There was also a report last year suggesting Toyota engines could power future Aston Martin variants.

The continuing Ford engine deal also suggests the Aston Martin VH platform – which underpins the Vantage, Vanquish and DB9 models – will also live for another five years.

A future Daimler partnership would likely go deeper than the renewed Ford deal, with component and platform sharing and even model sharing all possibilities.

It would also likely involve jointly developed engines, rather than a stand-alone supply deal.
