Aston Martin has unveiled a new SP10 special-edition version of its V8 Vantage, commemorating the company’s success in international GT4 racing.

Based on the V8 Vantage S, the SP10 draws its name from the racing class the V8 Vantage GT4 competes in with the Nürburgring-based VLN series.

Destined for European markets, the V8 Vantage SP10 will be offered in Coupe and Roadster bodystyles, and unlike the regular S model, will be available with a six-speed H-pattern manual transmission.

The S model’s seven-speed Sportshift II sequential transmission will remain an option, and both transmissions will enable the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds.

This figure is unchanged from the S model, as is the 305km/h top speed and 321kW/490Nm outputs from the SP10’s 4.7 litre V8 engine.

All SP10s will be finished in Ceramic Grey metallic paint, and the Roadster’s fabric top will be Titan Grey in colour.

The S model’s 19-inch wheels will be presented in a unique diamond-machined and gloss-black combination for the SP10, along with black coloured brake calipers, while the front splitter, rear diffuser, and clear taillights are a direct S model carryover.

On the inside, the Coupe will be trimmed in black alcantara trim and the Roadster in black leather - both with contrasting silver stitching.

Piano black detailing is used for the centre console, along with leather dash trimming with silver stitching on both bodystyles.

Priced from €96,935 (AU$126,628), the special edition model will also come with an "Aston Martin Vantage SP10" badge affixed to its engine block.

"Aston Martin has a long and successful tradition in motorsport. Since in the GT4 class the technical similarities between racing cars and their road model cousins are extremely pronounced,” Aston Martin Europe’s boss Jeffrey L. Scott said.

"With the new Vantage SP10 we are now offering a V8 Vantage S with a special motorsport and race track flair.”
