Nissan’s Z nameplate will return to the pointy end of Australian rallying in 2013, with the confirmation of twin 370Z entries in next year’s championship.

The existing Allstar Garage Rally Team will team with DW Racing to field the two-car entry, led by current series front-runner Nic Box.

Box will handle driving duties in one of the Z cars, while fellow Western Australian Danny Williamson will drive the second car.

Allstar Garage currently field a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 for Box, and the move to 370Zs for next year is part of the ARC’s move away from four-wheel-driven vehicles for the 2013 series.

The Z entry will not be without precedent however, with Datsun 240Z and 260Zs enjoying international rally success in the 1970s - including two Australian Rally Championships at the hands of local rally legend Ross Dunkerton.

These new Zs will be built from the ground-up to the latest G2 specifications by Allstar Garage in Perth, and will compete in a field expected to be dominated by front-wheel drive hatchbacks.
