Years have passed since the original announcement that a reborn Alpine would grace the world’s roads, and now, finally, fans have a date they can pencil into their diaries.

The Renault-owned brand has promised a reveal in mid-February, and rumours suggest the new model will wear the ‘A120’ name.

This would be an obvious nod to the iconic Alpine A110, and so too is the styling - if leaked patent images from last year are anything to go by.

Beyond a firm date, Alpine isn’t giving much away but the carmaker did say “we wanted to announce our comeback, but some would say we never left”.

Power for the new model is expected to come from a 1.8 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which is a larger version of the 1.6 litre powerplant from the Renault Clio RS
