Hyundai Santa Fe buyers can now opt for V6 petrol power, with the carmaker reintroducing the six-pot engine to the large SUV range as a permanent option.

In doing so, Hyundai has effectively made the limited-run Santa Fe 30 edition - offered last year to celebrate its 30th anniversary in Australia - a permanent member of the Santa Fe family.

Called the Santa Fe Active X, the new offering stands alone as the only front-wheel drive model in the range, making it the most road-biased Santa Fe.

Power comes from a 3.3-litre V6 petrol engine that produces 199kW and 318Nm, paired to a six-speed automatic.
