Holden has updated its Colorado pickup for the 2017 model year, with a public debut set to take place at tonight’s third and final 2016 State Of Origin rugby league match in Sydney.

Technology and safety are high on the list of improvements, with the refreshed model to feature Apply CarPlay, Android Auto and a reversing camera in every model.

Selected models also receive forward collision alert, lane departure warning, front and rear park assist along with a new forward-facing camera.

Carryover features on various models include Holden’s MyLink connectivity system, a seven- or eight-inch colour touchscreen with satellite navigation and DAB+ digital radio along with voice recognition and Bluetooth.

On the styling front, the 2017 Colorado gets a new, more aggressive and elongated front-end look as previewed by the Chevrolet S10 pickup in April. Holden has also elongated the options list, with the longest list of accessories to date for Colorado models available for buyers to personalise their utes.

Some options are inspired by the Colorado Xtreme concept, unveiled earlier this year, with LED driving lights, 18-inch wheels wearing all-terrain tyres, fender flares, snorkel, safari bar and more on the option’s list.

Holden adds that buyers can expect the new model to offer improved on-road driveability, but the carmaker stresses that the pickup has lost none of its off-road ability.

“Colorado has resonated well with customers in a segment that has almost doubled in sales in the last ten years, and we’re confident the new 2017 Colorado will build on this and redefine customer expectations of what a truck can be,” Holden Australia’s Peter Keley said.

“Colorado is also the only vehicle in the 4X4 utility vehicle segment to offer remote window activation – a feature we expect to be popular with customers in hot climate parts of Australia.”

The 2017 Holden Colorado goes on sale from September this year, with pricing yet to be confirmed.
