The Mercedes-AMG C63 S sedan now has a two-door partner in crime, with the C63 S Coupe now available for order in Australia.

Priced at $162,400, the C63 S Coupe costs $12,500 more than its main rival the BMW M4 and $17,290 more than the most expensive version of the Lexus RC F - the RC F Carbon. However with 375kW of power and 700Nm of torque surging from its 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8, the C63 S Coupe outguns both when it comes to the power war.

It’s dramatically quicker in a straight line. Able to sprint to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds, the C63 S Coupe is 0.2 seconds faster than the M4 and 0.6 seconds faster than the RC F Carbon.

It also outruns the C63 S Sedan by 0.1 seconds, despite having the same power and torque figures.

Compared to the sedan, the C63 S Coupe features a number of mechanical enhancements. The most noticeable are the staggered 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, a wider track, a set of AMG engine mounts, an AMG performance exhaust and an electronically-variable AMG Performance differential.

Placed side-by-side with the a conventional C-Class Coupe, the C63 S Coupe gets brawnier proportions courtesy of 64mm wider front guards, 66mm wider rear guards, wider track width, fatter tyres and a 60mm longer bonnet with AMG’s signature “power domes”.

Beneath the skin lies extra chassis reinforcements, as well as a completely unique rear suspension crade for the C63.

Standard equipment unique to the C63 S Coupe (over the rest of the C-Class Coupe range) includes a digital TV tuner, an AMG-specific head-up display, heated front seats, Nappa leather upholstery, unique AMG seats, instrument panel and steering wheel, a panoramic glass sunroof and adaptive LED headlamps.

Buyers seeking an extra level of performance can opt for the Edition 1 package, which bundles 402mm carbon-ceramic front brake rotors with a set of forged lightweight wheels in matte black (with “yellow flange”) plus some extra aero add-ons.

It also brings a few extra cosmetic enhancements, with carbon-fibre and brushed-alloy trim, yellow contrast stitching on the black Nappa leather upholstery and microfibre-trimmed AMG steering wheel, “Selenite Grey” matte paint, yellow AMG decals for the bonnet, roof, sides and bootlid and yellow accents on the instrument panel.

It costs $10,900, but with the ceramic brakes costing $9900 on their own, the Edition 1 pack suddenly looks like a good value proposition.

The powerpack is the same twin-turbocharged 4.0 litre V8 as the C63 S Sedan and Estate, producing 375kW of power between 5500-6250rpm and 700Nm of torque from 1750-4500rpm.

Drive is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed AMG Speedshift MCT automatic, with several drive modes and suspension modes available to tailor the powertrain and suspension feel.

Steering is electrically-assisted, with the standard steel front rotors measuring 390mm in diameter.
