2014 Skoda Octavia RS To Debut At Goodwood Festival Of Speed

Skoda’s 2014 Octavia RS performance flagship will make its first public appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.

Billed as the fastest production Skoda ever, the Octavia RS will presented to the public via the event’s “Festival of Speed Moving Motor Show".

Skoda will host a dedicated pavillion at the famous UK enthusiast gathering, and the RS will take part in the event’s hillclimb demonstrations.

News of the RS’ official unveiling follows the regular 2014 Octavia’s official debut late last year, and the RS was glimpsed twice online in recent months.

These glimpses showed several body enhancements, RS-specific wheels, menacing tinted headlights, and dual exhaust outlets.

Specific details are yet to be confirmed, but the RS is expected to use a version of the 162kW 2.0 litre turbo engine from the recently revealed Mk 7 Volkswagen Golf GTI.

This figure would help boost the new model to ‘fastest ever’ status, eclipsing the current Octavia RS’ 147kW petrol, and 125kW diesel options.

The continuation of the diesel alternative is also yet to be confirmed, but we’d be surprised if not.

“The new Octavia RS is a link with our brand’s great motorsports tradition,” Skoda worldwide boss Winfried Vahland said.

“The Festival of Speed, with its fascinating racing machines and its automobile and motorsport enthusiasts is the ideal stage for the world premiere of the Octavia RS.”

Up to 200,000 spectators are expected to visit the festival, held on the grounds of Goodwood House and hosted by Earl of March Charles Gordon-Lennox.
