The 2013 SRT Viper is still more than a month away from its global unveilling at the 2012 New York Auto Show, but images of a die cast Hot Wheels toy car may have spoiled the surprise.

Two images of the toy surfaced on an online Viper enthusiast forum over the weekend, and, judging by the shape of its headlights and heavily-vented bonnet, it appears many of the toy's styling elements line up with those revealed in recent teaser images released by Chrysler.

Although too small to replicate every detail perfectly, Hot Wheels toys are often designed in close co-operation with the actual carmaker. If this toy is indeed a Hot Wheels scale model of the 2013 Viper, we can expect it to be a fairly accurate reproduction of the real deal.

Assuming it's legit, we can surmise that the long-bonnet, short-cab proportions of the old Viper will remain, while the vented bonnet will incorporate both an air scoop for the engine and heat extraction vents for the radiator.

The production car's headlights will also be slimmer than the previous Viper's lights, and, as seen in the teaser imagery, will incorporate L-shaped LED daytime running lamps.

The Viper's familiar double-humped roof will carry over, while the tail lamps will be much slimmer and will be framed by a pair of small triangular vents in the rear bumper.
