Volkswagen's Polo GTI has a Spanish stablemate, known as the Ibiza Cupra. While the regular Ibiza caught a styling update earlier this year, the Cupra hot-hatch laboured on in its pre-facelift garb.

Revealed at this week's Beijing Auto Show, the 2013 Ibiza Cupra gets the same sharp new headlights as its regular commuter counterpart, along with project lamps and LED daytime running lights.

The Cupra's styling kit goes without skirts and lips, but the front bumper features a black panel above the widened bottom grille for a performance look.

The rear bumper gets a faux diffuser and brake vents combo, along with a centre-mounted exhaust.

The exterior enhancements are rounded out with gloss-black side mirrors and larger five-spoke alloy wheels - the same rims holding up the current Cupra.

Inside, the Cupra gets the same updates gifted to the regular 2012 Ibiza, along with a leather-wrapped three-spoke sports steering wheel.

Technical details have not been revealed, although we can likely expect power to come from the same 132kW super- and turbo-charged 1.4 litre engine that powers the current Cupra and Polo GTI cars.

The Seat brand has long been absent from the Australian market, and a return is not expected.
