Land Rover Australia has today confirmed that the newly updated 2012 Range Rover Sport will go on sale in November, bringing a number of convenience, trim and styling updates.

On the outside, there's a new Gloss Black treatment to the headlight inners and grille surround, while the TDV6 model gets a new Dark Atlas grille and the Luxury variants get a Light Atlas grille. At the rear, all models get new tailgate graphics.

The options list for the Supercharged variant now also includes a new 20-inch alloy wheel design finished in Sparkle silver.

In the cabin, the updated Sport gains new colourways for the Autobiography and Limited Edition variants (colours to be confirmed closer to launch), along with a new Ebony Morzine headliner option.

New equipment features in the Range Rover Sport cabin include an upgrade to the Hi-ICE and Premium audio systems, offering 825W through 17 speakers on the Premium Harmon Kardon LOGIC 7 system.

The Hi-ICE Harman Kardon System has been upgraded from nine speakers to 11 speakers, with output boosted from 240W to 380W.

There are new connectivity functions supporting DVD audio formats on the Hi-Line and Premium systems, a HDD music server, dual tuner, iPod and video streaming by USB, audio streaming by Bluetooth and two USB ports in the centre console.

A new seven-inch touchscreen is also featured, with an optional 'dual view' system that allows the driver to view navigation while the passenger watches a DVD. The rear seats gain WhiteFire wireless headphone technology.

Rounding out the updates is a new powered tailgate, standard for the Luxury models upwards. The tailgate is controlled from a dash-mounted button, the key fob and on the tailgate itself.

The lift height can be set by holding the tailgate at the desired height and holding the tailgate button for 10 seconds.

Internationally, the 3.0 litre SDV6 diesel engine gains a small boost in power, along with ZF's eight-speed automatic transmission and new rotary gear shift with steering-mounted paddle shifters, but we won't see those updates immediately.

"The European-market mechanical updates for the Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery 4 won't come in with this November update - we should see those later in 2012, but dates and details are still to be confirmed," Land Rover Australia's Tim Krieger told TMR today.
