The final bodystyle in the Kia Rio line-up has made its debut, with the unveiling of the Rio three-door at the Frankfurt Motor Show today.
Already on sale in Australia in five-door hatch form, the remaining two Rio variants - three-door and sedan - will hit Australian showrooms in early 2012.
While it has done away with a pair of doors, the Rio three-door gives little away in interior space, thanks to the 2570mm wheelbase it shares with the five-door.
Kia says the roofline of the three-door is also unchanged, meaning that rear passengers lose no headspace.
In all other ways, the Rio three-door mirrors the specifications and trim options of the five-door, driven by either a 64kW 1.2 litre or 79kW 1.4 litre petrol engine. Transmission options include a six-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.
There is also a 1.1 litre CRDi diesel engine, with fuel consumption listed at a very low 3.2 l/100km and carbon emissions at 85g/km.
In Europe, Kia expects the Rio three-door to account for around 20 to 25 percent of all Rio sales.
