Honda has revealed its next-generation Accord Coupe in concept form at the Detroit Auto Show this week, entering as a faithful evolution of the current model's design.

As a concept, the Accord Coupe shown in Detroit gets a slathering of chrome highlights at the front and rear ends, although it is likely that these trim elements will appear on the final production version.

Honda says that while the new Accord sedan is expected to lose some of its exterior size, the Coupe will retain most of its current dimensions.

Making its North American debut later this year, the Accord Coupe will be offered three petrol engines, including Honda's new range-topping 231kW 3.5 litre V6.

Australia

Honda has so far kept the Accord Coupe from Australian roads, and it remains unclear if this latest generation will get a local debut.

For now, the Accord Coupe is built only in left-hand-drive, and Honda has yet to offer any word on plans for a right-hand-drive version.
