Ferrari's track-monstering 599XX "rolling laboratory" has been upgraded for 2012, gaining a boost in power while cutting the flubber from its rubber.
Set for a debut at Italy's Bologna Motor Show this week, the 599XX Evolution gets a revised version of its Enzo-derived V12 engine, along with a new side-exit exhaust system, resulting in 560kW (up from 522), and 700Nm of torque.
The transmission has also been tweaked with a shorter final gear ratio to allow for greater acceleration, and the ESP system has also been recalibrated.
There's also a new aerodynamics package, including a redesigned front splitter and a new diffuser at the rear, boosting downforce at 200km/h to 330kg when open and 440kg when closed.
The 2012 599XX also gets a set of new Pirelli tyres, weighing 35kg less than the previous rubber.
All of this comes together to give the updated 599XX a 1:15 lap time at the famed Fiorano track - compared to 1:24 for the road-legal 599 GTO.
