2012 Citroen C3: One Trim Grade For Australia
Citroen's C3 light hatch has come in for a 2012 update in Australia – of a sort. For the new model year, the $19,990 entry-level VT has been dropped, as has the VTR+ and the top-shelf Exclusive variant.

Only the C3 Seduction grade remains, opening at $23,990 for the 1.6 litre petrol model, followed by the 1.6 litre diesel at $24,990.
The C3's key styling feature - the Zenith panoramic windscreen - has been fitted as standard equipment for the Seduction grade, and Bluetooth and USB connectivity are also available as optional extras.
“The market sector in which the Citroen C3 competes is dynamic and the second largest in the Australian market, so we have to keep looking at how we can make the Citroen C3 even more appealing, even though it is less than a year since the new C3 was launched,” Miles Williams, General Manager of Citroen Australia said.
“Therefore we have made its unique feature, the Zenith windscreen, standard to ensure that it’s truly stands out from its rivals."
Power for the petrol C3 is provided by the 88kW/160Nm Citroen/BMW-developed 1.6 litre engine, available with a four-speed automatic transmission only.
Fuel consumption is listed at 7.0 l/100km on the combined cycle, with the urban cycle returning 5.4 l/100km.
On the diesel front, the C3 gets Citroen's 1.6 litre HDi four-cylinder engine, producing 66kW and 215Nm of torque.
The diesel offers exceptionally low fuel consumption figures of 4.3 l/100km on the combined cycle and just 3.7 l/100km on the urban cycle.
The diesel will get to 100km/h in 11 seconds, while the 1.6 litre petrol will cover the distance in 10.9 seconds (a curious, and very minor, point of difference).
Suspension is managed up front by MacPherson-type struts, while the rear features a new rear axle with flexible traverse beam. The new C3 also has variable electric power steering.
