2012 BMW M5 Concept Images Surface Online

Photos of the new 2012 M5 'Concept' perched on BMW's stand at the Shanghai Auto Show have made their way online ahead of the event's opening later this month.

Obtained by Ukrainian website Transmissia, the images show a concept that appears ready for sale, with only the gloss black wheels and satin-like silver paint unlikely to come across as standard features.

When it debuts in production form at September's Frankfurt Motor Show, the 2012 M5 is expected to be packing a more powerful version of the new twin-turbo 4.4 litre V8 engine currently found in the 2010 550i and the X5 M.

BMW has yet to offer any numbers, but power figures for the new M5 are rumoured to be up around the 430kW mark - besting the X5 M by 22kW and the previous M5 by nearly 60kW.

With the hefty X5 M able to sprint to 100km/h in just 4.7 seconds, we can expect almost supercar times from the new top-shelf M sedan.

More details will likely be revealed at Shanghai later this month, although a full rundown may have to wait until Frankfurt in September.
