Audi's advanced seven-speed S tronic automatic transmission made its international debut in the top-shelf TT RS late last year, delivering a 0-100km/h time 0.3 seconds faster than the existing six-speed manual.
Now, coinciding with the opening of the 2011 Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne on Friday, the quickest-shifting TT RS is in Australia.
The S tronic system allows the driver to choose between two automatic modes and a full manual mode, shifting gears via paddles behind the steering wheel or on the gear lever.
Through the pairing of the slick S tronic and Audi's 250kW/450Nm 2.5 litre five-cylinder TFSI turobcharged engine, the TT RS returns full consumption figures of 8.5 l/100km - again bettering the manual, which lists a 9.2 l/100km fuel consumption rating.
To celebrate the local launch of the S tronic-equipped TT RS, Audi has also announced a Limited Edition variant - and just 45 will be sold.
The Limited Edition package includes a Black exterior styling package, with metallic paint, 19-inch five-arm 'Rotor' design wheels, a Sports exhaust system, Adaptive headlights, BOSE sound system, extended leather interior package and LED interior lighting.
The LE package comes at no additional cost, but with $8460 in additional value (according to Audi's catalogue) - so you'll need to get in quickly.
