Volkswagen And Skoda Models Recalled For ABS TLC

The Volkswagen Group has issued a recall in Australia for five Volkswagen model and two Skoda models.

The issue surrounds the vehicle’s anti-lock braking unit (ABS), which may be cease to operate correctly due to an interrupted current flow.

Should this occur, the driver should notice the ABS warning light illuminated in the instrument cluster. Also, the ABS system may not function as intended during an emergency, creating a hazard for the vehicle occupants and other road users.

Affected models for Volkswagen include the Eos, Golf, Jetta, Scirocco and Caddy from the 2009 and 2010 model-years.

For Skoda, the recall in Australia concerns the Octavia only, from the 2008 and 2009 model-years. In total, around 13,600 vehicles are affected in Australia.

The recall process will see the ABS and electronic stability control (ESC) software updated.

Volkswagen and Skoda will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact their local dealer.
