Gold Pass visitors to this year’s VACC Historic Sandown, November 7th to 9th 2008, will be in the running to win one of 10 rides in a Group N Historic Touring Car.

Now one of the biggest historic motorsport meetings in Australia, VACC Historic Sandown will this year feature a field of 300-plus racing, sports and touring cars, spanning eight decades. Besides the open wheeler and sports car categories, there is a capacity field expected for both Group N Touring Cars and Category S Production Sports Cars, and an international field of thundering Formula 5000 race cars.

The Group N category - with Monaros rubbing door handles with GT Falcons, Camaros and Mustangs - looks like a Bathurst field of old, and is rapidly growing in popularity with fans of wheel-to-wheel racing.

This year’s VACC Historic Sandown also marks the 40th anniversary of the Monaro’s first race victory in the 1968 Sandown 3-Hour Enduro in the hands of Bob Watson and Tony Roberts (expect the ‘Munro’ contingent to be out in force) and the 50th year of the MG Car Club, with more than 100 MGs participating.

The Victorian Historic Racing Register is offering an advance purchase Gold Pass that includes three exclusive viewing locations, an insiders’ view of the pit garages, Sunday BBQ lunch and a Gold Pass cap and lanyard.  All Gold patrons will be in the running to win one of the 10 rides.

Gold Passes are available only by advance purchase through the VHRR’s website at www.vhrr.com prior to October 27.

Mark November 7th to 9th in the calendar. If you’ve never been to an historic race meet, you’re in for a real treat.
