With its perfect blend of power, looks and keen pricing, Hyundai's game-changing Genesis Coupe has quite understandably been hogging the limelight lately.

But according to Hyundai's top brass, that doesn't mean they've forgotten about their last sporting model, the Tiburon. They have now announced that a front-wheel-drive sports coupe is still most definitely in the pipeline.

During a recent press conference for the Genesis Coupe, Hyundai's head of product planning John Krafcik stated that a smaller FWD coupe based on the Elantra platform would arrive soon, with styling inspired by the Veloster Concept (pictured).

Tech details are still shrouded in mystery and it may well ditch the Tiburon badge, but it's a promising sign that the Korean manufacturer isn't about to limit its performance offerings to just the Genesis Coupe.

If right-hook-drivers like us Australians never get our own version of the impressive Genesis, then at least we'll be able to console ourselves with the next-gen Tiburon.

Word around the water cooler is that we can expect to see a production-ready 'concept' drop at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show in September, so stay tuned.
