SsangYong’s highly anticipated C200 – styled by ItalDesign – has made its debut ‘more or less’ in production form at the 2009 Seoul Motor Show and as promised, the CUV will be available in two similar but distinct forms: the SsangYong C200 Aero and the SsangYong C200 Eco.

Korea’s fourth largest carmaker, recently troubled but perhaps now on the comeback trail, has yet to reveal the full details on the C200 pair.

We do know that the C200 Eco is powered by a diesel hybrid, while the C200 Aero will be available with both a 2.0 litre or a turbo-charged 1.8 litre petrol mill.

SsangYong said at the Seoul Motor Show that the C200 is smaller and much lighter than its current models and offers vastly improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions – reduced by up to 50 percent in the case of the C200 Eco.

The pair of C200 CUVs on display at Seoul feature a six-speed slushbox, but a manual transmission is also planned for the production model.

The C200 Aero and Eco CUVs are 4400mm long, with a 2650mm wheelbase.  EuroNCAP crash testing will be undertaken before the vehicle goes to market.

No word has been given yet on which markets will see the C200, or whether those markets will get both versions of the car.
