It appears our earlier reports that Renault would unveil its Megane RS at the Geneva show were accurate, as Renault has recently launched a teaser site, complete with countdown timer.

The above image is a screen grab from the site and shows that initial assumptions - that the Megane RS would share styling cues with the Renault Megane Trophy concept (picture following) - appear to have been right on the money.

Initially available only in three-door, with a five-door version to follow, the Renault Megane RS will likely be powered by the same 2.0 litre turbo-charged four-cylinder engine as that seen in the Megane R.26, putting down over 180kW (241hp).

A six-speed manual cog-swapper, Brembo brakes, a revised power steering system, and a limited-slip differential are all expected to be part of the package.

Pricing and availability information, along with the all-important specifications, will likely be divulged at the car's unveiling in Geneva, but reports indicate that European sales should kick off later this year.

We'll be keeping our eye out for this hot-hatch during the Geneva Show and will bring you all the details once the wraps have come off.
