Record-Setting SSC Ultimate Aero For Sale On eBay

Why have one of the fastest production cars in the world when you can have the fastest production car in the world?  It's a question I often ask myself, and I'm sure you do too.

Sure, the 2009 model Shelby Super Cars Ultimate Aero will probably end up faster, but nonetheless, what you're seeing here is a piece of automotive history.

And now that piece of automotive history can be yours.

You have until the 23rd of March to bid on the eBay auction, which currently sits at USD$510,100 (AUD$765,000), with the reserve still yet to be met.

For those of you a little rusty on the details, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT clocked up an official average speed of 256.18 mph (411.93 km/h) when it wrestled the record from Bugatti's delectable Veyron.

A hand-built twin-turbo 387.2 cid V8 engine (around 6.3 litres) pumps out 883kW (1183hp) at 6075rpm and a tyre shredding 1500Nm (1106lb-ft) of torque at 6150rpm.

All this translates into a 0-100km/h time of 2.78 seconds, a quarter mile time of 9.9 seconds at 140 mph (230 km/h) and one helluva top speed.
