Proton Australia Announces New Pricing For Local Range, Proton Exora Coming In November

PROTON HAS TODAY announced new pricing and updates across its local line-up, available to buyers from April.

The Satria Neo range now starts at $14,990, topping out with the Satria Neo GXR which is now $1000 less at $16,990. Each Satria Neo variant is available with a four-speed automatic transmission, which attracts a $2000 premium.

The Persona range, fitted with a five-speed manual transmission as standard, now starts at $15,990. As with the Satria Neo, each variant can be had with an automatic transmission for a further $2000.

The Gen.2 line-up, also fitted with a manual transmission as standard, starts at $16,990, through to the Gen.2 GXR at $19,990. The GXR is offered with a leather interior, dual side SRS airbags and front fog lights. An automatic transmission can be optioned with each Gen.2 variant.

The S16, already Australia's lowest-priced sedan, maintains its $11,990 starting price for the S16 G manual, while the range-topping GX automatic is priced at $14,990.

Boosting the S16 GX automatic's appeal in the entry-level segment is a range of new features for 2010, including 14-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights and reversing sensors.

Existing Proton Savvy and Jumbuck stock is now in runout, with both models cut from the brand's import list. The Jumbuck range starts at $14,990 with the GLi, while the GLSi is priced at $16,990 and gets 14-inch alloy wheels, power mirrors and power windows.

The Savvy manual hatch is priced at $13,990, or with an automatic transmission for an extra $2000.

Proton is set to introduce a range of new models in Australia later this year, including its first people-mover, the Proton Exora.

Debuting internationally in April last year, the Exora is powered by a 1.6 litre petrol engine, producing a lowly 93kW and 150Nm of torque. Fuel consumption is listed at 8.3 l/100km, and kerb weight is a relatively light 1422kg.

Proton Australia has yet to reveal pricing for the Australian-delivered Exora, but it is known that it will featured a turbo-charged version of the Exora's 1.6 litre engine, ensuring a little more bang for the Australian buyer's buck.
