EIGHT-HUNDRED novelty and unique cars, trucks and motorcycles from around the world, and all eras, will be competing for “Best in Category" awards at  Brisbane’s Eagle Farm Racecourse, 10am-3pm Sunday June 28 at RACQ MotorFest.

Undoubtedly, one of the 'green' stars of the show will be the sleek all-electric Tesla Roadster Sport that almost silently scoots from 0-100km/h in 3.8 secs, and yet, claims a greener footprint than most current hybrid sedans.

The $128,000 USD roadster is a  'must have' for Hollywood and the environmentally-conscious well-heeled (those who want to do their bit for the planet but look hot at the same time).

Another winner for MotorFest will be the presence of a hand-crafted, retro-styled Morgan Aero 8.

Buyers of the Aero 8 must wait patiently for two years while it’s built to order, before settling into the sumptuous leather and revving the 4.8 litre V8 engine that’s good for 239kW.

The Aero 8 will hurry drivers from 0-100 km/h in a very respectable 4.5 secs. Also belying its old-world exterior, the Morgan has ABS, electronic traction, cruise control and lots of other new-tech goodies.

Motor history buffs are well-catered for on the day, with special centenary displays from Morgan, Hudson and Audi, charting the past, present and future of their motoring brands.

There’s also a performance from Australian Idol finalist Chrislyn Hamilton, and appearances by top V8 Supercar drivers Fabian Coulthard and Michael Patrizi.

Motor racing fans can test their skills in the Mitsubishi Evo rally simulators, and, according to RACQ, there's plenty for the kids as well.

MotorFest is admission by donation, with proceeds going to the RACQ Helicopter Rescue Network. Last year’s healthy crowd of 12,000 people raised $18,000 towards the life-saving service.

Off-road parking is available for five dollars per vehicle, with shuttle bus services from Doomben Racecourse all day. For more information, visit www.racq.com/motorfest or call 131905.
