Nissan D40 ‘Outlaw’ Navara

If the Nissan D40 Navara is on your shopping list then you may be interested in their new ‘Outlaw’ variant. Powered by Nissan’s small but class leadingly powerful YD25 2.5-litre turbo-diesel the Outlaw Navara gets a bit of extra kit to set it apart from the everyday D40 Navara.

Based on the ST-X model Nissan have added 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome side steps, chrome bonnet protector, alloy nudge bar, fog lights, Bluetooth connectivity, soft tonneau cover and an Outlaw decal.

The Navara Outlaw also comes with an upgraded stereo system comprising a six stack CD with AM/FM radio, MP3 compatibility and an auxiliary audio jack.

"The D40 Navara is a great multi-purpose 4x4. It offers the flexibility of a genuine fiveseater with heaps of interior space, whilst still being a functional and reliable workhorse. The Navara Outlaw Limited Edition enhances D40's rugged good looks and provides ute buyers with added value, an even more compelling reason to jump aboard," said Gavin Corcoran, Nissan's product marketing manager for SUV and commercial vehicles.

The Navara Outlaw is available with either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission (the latter with a $2000 premium), and joins a range of Nissan utes that are in high demand. In 2007, Navara 4x4 sales grew by 27 percent to capture a full 22 percent of the total 4x4 ute market.

The turbo-diesel Navara ST-X has also taken out the inaugural 4X4 Australia Magazine's Ute of the Year award in 2006 and repeated the feat in 2007, topping its field with its class-leading engine and off-road ability.

The 126 kW 2.5-litre common rail turbo-diesel engine delivers maximum power at 4000rpm and has a stump-pulling 403 Nm of torque available at just 2000rpm. And its low-range gearbox offers true go-anywhere traction.

All this extra equipment is available complete with a choice of special Outlaw Red or Midnight Black paint schemes for just $47,990*, just $2000 over the standard ST-X diesel's price.
