Following on from Mercedes-Benz's $150,000 donation yesterday, Honda, Ford, Nissan and Audi have all opened their wallets and made sizable contributions to various bushfire recovery funds.

Honda pledged $200,000 to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund, while Nissan gave $100,000 and promised to match all of its employee's donations dollar for dollar. Nissan has also commited 100 of its cars to a special bushfire victim assistance program, where they will be available for loan at no charge to anyone directly affected by the fires.

Ford has put a brand-new Mondeo XR5 Turbo up for bidding via Cricket Australia's bushfire charity auction, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross' bushfire appeal. The automaker has also donated 4 Ford Ranger 4x4s to the Country Fire Authority, and loaned them a further 20 cars for use in the recovery effort. Ford employees will also be passing around the hat to raise funds to assist with the cleanup process.

Audi has also pitched in to help bushfire-struck Victorians, and has made a large contribution to the Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation Bushfire Appeal.

Again, we implore our readers to dig deep and give whatever you can spare to help those who've lost nearly everything. The Red Cross can be reached either via their website or on 1800 811 700, donations can be made to the Salvation Army through their website or over the phone on 13 SALVOS while the Lord Mayor's Charitable Fund will also accept contributions online or via phone on (03) 9663 0000.
