Mitsubishi has expanded its recall in Australia for the Pajero 4WD as part of the ongoing Takata airbag saga.

As with other Takata airbag recalls, the problem centres around the airbag’s inflator unit which could rupture when the airbag deploys.

Should this occur, metal fragments from the inflator may strike occupants in the cabin resulting in injury or even death.

A total of 57,128 vehicles are on the list for Australia, which includes NS, NT, NW and NX Pajeros from the 2007-2016 model-years. The driver’s-side airbag is targeted in this latest recall.
