We have recently seen a similar occurrence with Porsche’s new GT2 brochure being leaked onto the internet before the cars official pictures and specs were released. It’s now happened again with the Mitsubishi EVO X!

A good month or three away from its official release someone has managed to snaffle the official Japanese brochure and post all 27 pages of it on the internet. Now, the brochure is in Japanese and a little hard for the average Aussie to make any sense of but we can reveal the all important vital statistics.

The new EVO X will feature a new lightweight 2.0-litre turbo-charged MIVEC4 engine that produces 206Kw and 422Nm, mysteriously at the limit of the now defunct Japanese manufacturers “gentlemans agreement” for power limitation. I suspect the 206Kw figure would be best described as a conservative estimate…

The new engine produces 22Nm of torque more than the outgoing 4G63 2.0-litre while the claimed power output remains unchanged. The brochure is for the Japanese home market version of the EVO X and there may be some changes to the figures quoted for the Australian delivered cars.

In the Japanese market at least there will be two versions of the EVO X as predicted. The top of the range GSR will be available with a choice of five-speed manual or six-speed dual-clutch gearbox while the RS will only be available with the five-speed manual cog-swapper.
