After conducting a feasibility study into an electric vehicle partnership back in June 2008, Mitsubishi Motors and PSA Peugeot Citroen have today announced that a formal joint venture will be formed with the goal of sharing the development, manufacture and distribution of electric cars.

The biggest deal brokered as part of the agreement will be that PSA will be able to market a Peugeot-branded electric car  in Europe, which will be  built by Mitsubishi using its i MiEV architecture.

Peugeot's compact electric car will be share the market with the Euro-spec i MiEV, and will presumably be a more upmarket offering. Launch is expected to occur in late 2010 or early 2011, with pricing and specifications expected to be revealed closer to the launch date.
