Mercedes-Benz Shooting Break Concept Revealed In Lead-Up To Beijing Show

FIRST PREVIEWED by the 2008 ConceptFASCINATION, Mercedes-Benz has revealed the newest version of its Shooting Break concept.

Reports earlier this year suggested such a concept would debut at the Paris Motor Show, but Mercedes has announced today that the Shooting Break will appear at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show.

While technically a concept, its styling - along with that of the recent F800 Style concept - offers a clear indication of what to expect for the next-generation CLS and future Mercedes models.

The seemingly production-ready stylish lines of the concept might also preview a new CLS wagon. If the concept does enter production, it will undoubtedly be compared to BMW's 5 Series GT: a similarly unorthodox take on an established theme.

Power for the Shooting Break is provided by a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine producing 225kW and 370Nm of torque. Mercedes-Benz has yet to offer full details on the new engine, except to confirm that it is a 'forerunner' to its new-generation V-engine.
