Come May this year, Mercedes-Benz will begin selling its new CLS Grand Edition - as if the standard CLS was lacking in some way. M-B will add extra dollops of luxury to the CLS through the use of premium paints and interior trims. In addition, a few choice upgrades will also make an appearance as standard kit to further differentiate the Grand Edition.

A unique designo magno platinum matt-paint finish highlights the contours of the CLS. The highly scratch and dirt resistant paint is also used on the radiator grille louvers and is available in obsidian black, iridium silver, corneal red or flint gray.

Mercedes-Benz has also included bi-xenon headlamps, high-sheen AMG 18-inch five-spoke lightweight alloy wheels, and exclusive Grand Edition insignia to round out the exterior changes. The headlights are self-cleaning, can adjust range as required and combine with the fog lights to provide a corner lighting function.

The designo interior of the CLS is pure class with an anthracite Alcantara roof-lining blending into a "marron" leather upholstery - customers can also choose from sand, black, mystic red, porcelain or chablis.

High-quality laurel wood can be optioned in matt or gloss finish adorning various trim elements including the selector lever and wood/leather steering wheel.

The interior appointments continue with brushed stainless-steel foot pedals and "Grand Edition" velour floor mats. The extensive range of equipment includes the sophisticated COMAND (sic) APS Multimedia control and display system, comfort telephony, and the PARKTRONIC system.

The CLS Grand Edition comes in two distinct flavours. The CLS 350 Grand edition will feature a 3.5 litre 215kW and 365Nm engine while the CLS 500 Grand Edition utilises a 5.5 litre V8 producing 285kWs and 530Nm. Both models will feature Mercedes seven-speed 7G-TRONIC automatic gearbox.

Pricing for the Mercedes-Benz CLS Grand Edition will be announced prior to its Australian release.
