Mercedes Benz have provided us with the first official picture of their facelifted SL roadster, in the form of a rear three quarter shot of the range topping SL65 AMG. There is a more aggressive rear diffuser and petite rear spoiler, restyled tail-lights along with some new alloys but until we see the front, its fair to say that there isn’t a lot in the update, at least cosmetically.

What we do know is that MB have released a new AMG model dubbed the SL63. The SL63 will be V8 powered with an expected 386kW/525hp and 630Nm of torque on tap. Economy is a reasonable 13.9L/100km with CO2 emissions of 330g/km, making this the “green” option in the AMG SL roadster line-up.

The SL65 AMG is still the range topper, featuring the awesome Bi-turbo 6.0-litre V12 and its massive 450kW/612hp and 1,000Nm output, this is still the hairy-chested preference for the hairy-chested petrolhead type. Keeping in mind the massive output, the Bi-turbo V12 is really quite frugal returning 15.1L/100km with C02 emissions of 362g/km.

We’ll have to wait for a head-on shot before we can really see what’s changed with the updated SL line-up, as much like the recent SLK update, the major changes are most likely up front.
