Maybach Landaulet goes into production

Maybach showed us their Landaulet last year, a super luxury limousine that featured an open topped rear section inspired by limousines of days gone by. The general consensus at the time was that Maybach were desperately trying to impress the ‘well heeled’ as the Marque struggled with an uninspiring product line-up that was being comprehensively trounced by the likes of Rolls-Royce and their Phantom.

It seems that more than a few folk took a liking to the Landaulet and with very little pomp or ceremony, Maybach have started production. With a price around the £350,000 mark, the initial interest and orders have come out of the Middle East.

The Maybach Landaulet is based on the Maybach 62 and is powered by a Mercedes derived 456kW/612hp bi-turbo V12. Capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in a fraction over 5 seconds the Laundaulet is a limousine with oodles of performance potential, making the decision to produce them a clear victory for the chauffers.

Maybach did not sell a single vehicle in Australia in 2007, despite it being a record year for super-luxury car sales in this country.
