MINI debuted their John Cooper Works not quite identical twins at Geneva this year. Available in both Cooper S and Clubman body styles the JCW prepped cars feature improved performance and looks, in fact the JCW MINI is the basis for the MINI Challenge race cars.
Both new JCW steeds feature a 1.6-litre twin-scroll turbocharged engine that delivers 155kW and 260Nm, enough to see the JCW Cooper S manage the 0-100km/h sprint in 6.5 seconds.
The weightier Clubman version is a further 0.2 seconds off the pace. For those in a real hurry there is also an ‘overboost’ function that results in a momentary 20Nm boost of torque.
