James Bond: Quantum of Solace Trailer

For those of you who were, like me, disappointed with the lack of attention the Aston Martin DBS received in Casino Royale, you'll be pleased to see in the trailer for the Quantum of Solace that it looks like we're up for a much stronger dose this time around.

The 22nd Bond instalment, titled James Bond: Obscure Unit of Measurement (waaait a minute...) comes to cinemas on the 27th of November 2008, and I suspect we'll probably get another 3 trailers and about a dozen "featurettes" online between now and then. Stay tuned!

Being both a car and movie fanatic, this sort of news is always on the top of my list. What other car movies are you hanging out for?

Incidentally, you should absolutely jump below the line to see an interesting bit of trivia about the DBS crash scene in Casino Royale, which I've conveniently lifted from Wikipedia.

The scene involving the car crash was devised using an Aston Martin DB9 – modified to look like Bond's Aston Martin DBS V12 – specially modified and reinforced to withstand the impact. Due to the low centre of gravity of the vehicle, an 18-inch (450 mm) ramp had to be implemented on the road tarmac at Millbrook Proving Grounds and stunt driver Adam Kirley had to use an air cannon located behind the driver's seat to propel the car into a roll at the precise moment of impact.

At a speed exceeding 70 mph (113 km/h), the car rotated seven times while being filmed, and was confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records on November 5, 2006 as a new world record.
