Jaguar Adds SUV To New Model List: Report

If Jaguar had its paws full with plans for a new 'XE' roadster and a wagon version of the XF, it could soon be on course for capacity. New reports out of the UK this week suggest that the British badge is looking at adding a crossover SUV to its line-up.

It's a move that makes good sense, given Jaguar's ties to the legendary Land Rover brand, and new boss Adrian Hallmark reportedly agrees.

“We need a crossover and we need to stop being a saloon-based company,” Hallmark told UK magazine Autocar this week.

While he divulged little more than that, he added that the Tata-owned company is investigating the case for an all-wheel-drive platform and more light-weight platforms.

He said that a greater use of aluminium and other light materials will be a core part of Jaguar's "future DNA."

According to Hallmark, the upcoming XF wagon/estate will also account for one-fifth of all XF sales.
